Features:
Ancient, deciduous plant species. An old, ancient, old-growth tree. A popular ornamental tree with many horticultural varieties.
Some specimens grow to 20-35 m tall. The leaves, which are about 10 cm long and arranged in clusters, are leathery and fan-shaped. The leaves turn bright yellow in autumn.
The fruit has an unpleasant smell due to its butyric acid content, so male specimens are usually planted in public areas (plants cannot be selected by sex before planting). Interestingly, it only comes into production after 25-30 years of age.
It is a hardy plant, light-hungry. It is also resistant to various types of radioactive radiation. One of the longest-lived trees; specimens older than a thousand years are known.

Medicinal uses.
They are used to treat disorders of the blood supply to the brain, dizziness, tinnitus and hearing loss. It is beneficial for varicose veins, hemorrhoids and leg ulcers. Studies have shown that the flavonoids in fern pine are good vasodilators. They increase the metabolism. It is also used against senile dementia and Alzheimer's disease. It is an excellent antioxidant.
