Although the WAW axle load cell range also includes certified versions, the certified versions are recommended primarily for official axle load measurements. In most cases the use of non-certified versions is recommended and sufficient. This is because the regulations state that the use of certified versions is only for traffic control (by the authorities). The total vehicle weight, being a calculated (and not a measured) value, is not a certified value even if it is measured with a certified axle scale (except when the vehicle with two axles has all four wheels resting on the 4 measuring platforms as specified).
