Description
Irish company McHale, which specialises in the manufacture of forage harvesting machinery, pays particular attention to the continuous improvement of its machines, keeping in mind the needs and feedback of users. In this spirit, it has renewed its F5-500 fixed chamber round baler range, which consists of four models:
- F5-540 - without slicer,
- F5-550 - with 15 slicers,
- F5-560 - 25 slicers, automatic,
- F5-560 Plus - 25 slicer knife, net/film wrapper, automatic baler.

All models are equipped with the new Profi-Flo pick-up, designed to increase pick-up performance through more efficient crop flow. The new conical feed channel design allows the crop to be baled to flow unobstructed to the rotor and then to the baling chamber, maximising throughput. Users can choose between tracked or trackless designs.

All F5 models come with 540 rpm drive as standard, but a 1000 rpm drive is available as an option, providing higher torque transfer, reducing the risk of clogging. Another new feature is the Dual-Feed mesh tying system with increased performance. This allows the pre-tensioning of the net to be adapted to the conditions, resulting in improved performance when making high density bales.

Previously available on the F5-560/560 Plus machines, the bale density can be adjusted from the tractor, and this function is now also available on the F5-550 model via the new i-Control 5 control console. Also new on the F5-550/560/560 Plus models is the ability to adjust the bale size from 1.25 m to 1.30 m to suit different crops.

Ease of use was a key consideration in the development of the F5. This has led to a number of practical innovations, such as:
- quick-locking clearing wheels,
- a larger 8-litre chain oil tank,
- colour-coded hydraulic hose grips.

The F5-560/560 Plus machines are ISOBUS compatible as standard, while this is optional on the F5-550. The focus of the new F5 series is on increased performance and operator comfort. A number of new features have significantly increased throughput and capacity. The design team has further improved the operator experience with the new i-Control 5 console and ISOBUS options.

The entry-level model in the range, the F5-540, is available in a semi-automatic, slicerless version.
