The main advantage is its flexibility and versatility. The sturdy frame is rigid enough for intensive use by high-powered tractors. Complete tillage can be achieved with just one use. This is due to the three different components: tines, discs, and cultivation roller.

The tines are responsible for cultivating the medium and deeper soil layers and for returning crop residues to the soil. The discs chop up the residue and level the surface, while the cultivator roller at the rear of the machine closes the soil surface. It excellently cuts the weeds' roots and then turns them back into the soil. A similar effect can be achieved when working in stubble.
The two-row layout can also be used for smaller tractors, as with the U 436 three-row cultivator.
The cultivator is available with two different types of securing: spring (Vogel & Noot tines only), shear pin and Non-Stop spiral spring.
