Description
The lack of nutrients disrupts the growth of the plant, resulting in morphological changes and a reduction in the quantity and quality of the crop. Magnesium deficiency has a yield-reducing effect and sulphur deficiency reduces the quantity and quality of oil yields. Boron is also the most important micronutrient for sunflowers, which are oilseed crops like winter oilseed rape, because it regulates carbohydrate metabolism and the complete fixation of the crop. In its absence, it can reduce yields, deform plates and develop a large number of stunted growths. Boron is difficult to move in plants, so the most effective technology for boron supplementation is foliar fertilisation. It is worth noting that high oleic (HO) sunflowers have a higher nutrient demand than normal linoleic (LO) sunflowers, so that a harmonious nutrient supply is even more important for this type if the parameters typical of the variety are to be achieved.
