Features:
Black dwarf barberry is a shrub native to North America. It is also called black aronia after its Latin name, and its fruit is called aronia berry.
The bush can grow to a height of one and a half to two metres and produces its white flowers in late spring.
It also makes an excellent ornamental hedge plant. A hardy shrub that is easy to care for.

Fruit:
Rich in antioxidants, it is a preventive against several diseases (Parkinson's, cancer, bronchitis, atherosclerosis) and an anti-inflammatory.
It has a sour taste when raw. It ripens in July, but if harvested in mid-autumn it can have a more pleasant taste.
The fruit is used by the pharmaceutical industry as a base for blood pressure regulating drugs.
The ripe fruit contains vitamin P and vitamin E. It also has a favourable mineral salt composition.
The fruit can be eaten dried and is also excellent for tea.
It can also be made into jam, juice, wine and liqueur.
