Characteristics:
Flowering ash trees usually grow to a height of 6-10 metres. The canopy is rounded.
Yellowish-white, dense, snow-white, fluffy, feathery blossoms. The flowers are very fragrant.
Shade tolerant when young, light-hungry later. The bark sometimes oozes sweet sap, 'manna', hence the name 'manna rice'.
The manna is used by the pharmaceutical industry for coughs and as a mild laxative.
