Product description

500 kg. Its genotype has the favourable characteristics of the Swedish alfalfa, synonymously known as Sickle or Muddler alfalfa (Medicago falcata). State certification: 2006. Year of plant variety registration: 2006. A species of alfalfa with medium to tall plants, erect growth habit, thin stems, leafy type, predominantly blue-flowered (dwarf-flowered, yellow-flowered and white-flowered plants also occur in the population of the variety).

Economic value:
A variety with excellent protein yield. Total dry matter yield in the official trials over 4 years: 61,9 t/ha (15,5 t/ha/year). Total protein yield over 4 years: 12,4 t/ha (3,6 t/ha/year). High protein content (23 %). Excellent winter hardiness and drought tolerance. Seed yield is medium to good. Its roots are more densely branched close to the surface and at the same time more penetrating, making better use of the soil's smaller nutrient and water reserves. It has been cultivated on acidic sandy soils and forest soils with low fertility and is therefore suitable for successful cultivation on these soils.

Growing information:
It can be grown on poorly fertile sandy soils, forest soils and on sloping, eroded, shallow and acid soils. It is also competitive on good fertility and tied soils, producing large and high quality crops. It can have a life span of 5-6 years with proper agrotechnics.
A clean spring planting of OLIMPIA lucerne is recommended. Spring planting is safer due to the higher probability of rainfall. The advantage of late summer planting is a higher yield the following year and less risk of weed infestation. Nevertheless, only choose late summer planting if the necessary moisture for germination can be ensured in the soil (water conservation tillage, irrigation). In the case of self (clean) planting, not only the safety of planting but also the expected yield of alfalfa can be increased. Clean planting of alfalfa is generally recommended not only for late summer planting but also for spring planting.
Sowing parameters: seed rate 20 kg/ha (10 million sprouts), sowing depth 1,5-2 cm, row spacing 12-15 cm.
