The way in which hay and straw are stored is of paramount importance to protect the crop. Deterioration due to weather conditions and mould, fungal and bacterial growth not only degrades the intrinsic value of the crop, but can also be harmful to the animals consuming the feed stored in the hay or bale. While built-in bale stores are ideal solutions, many people choose to store bales in a bale house to reduce their costs.
If a breathable boiler cover is the goal, it is an excellent choice if the boiler is not already completely dry, as moisture can escape through the breathable material.
Lightweight and durable
The breathable boiler blanket material is a non-woven plastic fibre fleece. The thousands of plastic fibres are needle-punched to create a light, strong, flexible and breathable fabric. Due to its textile nature and strong material, the fibres of the bale create a Velcro-like effect: the fibres entangle the textile but do not tear it. This property contributes to a stronger, more stable attachment.
It wicks away water, allowing the wind to pass through
The working principle of the breathable boiler cover is due to the internal 3D fibre structure. This structure acts like a drainage pipe: it absorbs and drains water to the bottom of the blanket, where it simply drains away into the ground. This principle of operation is guaranteed by the fact that the blanket is stretched over the wire at a 45° angle. Another important property of the material is that the wind simply blows through it. This prevents the wind from being sucked in and the blanket from becoming a sail. Last but not least, the moisture under the blanket can escape through the material.
Strong material
The fibres are strongly bonded together, making the fabric difficult to tear or puncture. This is particularly useful, as fibres that come out of the bales get caught in the material, creating a Velcro-like effect that helps to secure it securely.
Resistant to UV radiation
The plastic fibres of the textile are UV protected, so that the boiler covers made from this material will last up to 4-5 years.
