✅ For many years, the Young Farmer Grant has been the most sought-after grant in the agricultural grant application process. Its main objective is to promote the transfer of farms and to slow down and stop the ageing process in agriculture. It is open to natural persons aged between 18 and 40 who hold a state-recognised agricultural qualification, have been running a farm for up to 5 years and have a farm size of between 10,000 ES and 50,000 ES. The call will be relaunched soon and up to 4,000 young farmers are expected to be able to apply for the €40,000 grant!

✍️ 31% of farmers are over 65 years old, compared to only 6% of those under 34. In addition to the ageing of the farming population, a major problem is that the proportion of people under 35 with skills is only about half the EU average. The Young Farmer scheme therefore aims to support the setting up of young farmers, promote the restructuring of farm structures, improve the age structure of the agricultural workforce, increase the rural population retention capacity and ensure the long-term sustainability of farming.

❗The main advantage of the Young Farmer scheme is that it is one of the few pre-financed schemes, it is free to use, and it is the only one where you can buy a farm or livestock with the money you receive!

✅ With the younger generation of farmers set to make a big difference in the coming years, it is vital that EU farm support reaches out to the leaders of smaller farms who want to grow. We believe that with a good idea comes a chance and money, and our aim is to make sure that applicants get it in the simplest way possible.

✅ Who can apply?
To be eligible for this grant, applicants must meet all of the following conditions:

✅ Have a production potential of at least 10,000 ESU but not more than 50,000 ESU, which our colleagues can advise you on how to obtain and demonstrate.
✅ Self-employed person or legal entity aged between 18 and 40 years old, no more than one year old, with a CCI customer ID.
✅ The applicant must have a professional agricultural qualification (e.g.: goldsmith farmer, agricultural technician, agricultural diploma).
✅ The business and financial plan submitted with the application must convincingly demonstrate the viability, profitability and development milestones of the prospective business.
✅ You have been running an agricultural holding for up to 5 years.
✅ Have been engaged in agricultural activity as a principal activity for no more than 5 years from the date of submission of the application.

✅ Nature and amount of the aid:
The total budget of the application is HUF 37,75 billion. This is a non-refundable grant, 75% of which - almost HUF 10 million - is paid in advance and can be used at the applicants' discretion for the development of their farm. The remaining 25% can be drawn down in year 3. The amount can be used freely!
